Bob Santos, MTur Secretary

"We’ll have up to 35 casinos in the country with a great revenue of US$ 4bn for Brazil"

During the II Leaders Meeting that brings together private and public initiative at the Ceará Convention Center, Bob Santos, Secretary of Interinstitutional Integration of the Ministry of Tourism, said that Brazil will have up to 35 casinos. For him, 'integrated resorts and casinos will attract phenomenal revenues of around R$ 16 billion (US$ 4bn) to the country.' Yesterday’s (31st) event serves to discuss issues related to tourism, business and investment.

The panel that opened the meeting discussed “Planning and Guidelines for 2020” with the participation of Santos himself; Ricardo Fonseca, Director of Regulatory Policies of the Civil Aviation Secretariat; and Larissa Limírio, ICMBio's environmental analyst.

Bob Santos recalled that MTur has been aggressively acting on a number of fronts to modernize and evolve the tourism sector nationwide.

“We have been talking to airlines, Anac and the Civil Aviation Secretariat to create investment attraction planning. One of the points was the reduction in ICMS, which took 469 regional flights to São Paulo alone. Now we will launch a 'Tourism Hour' MP, which will involve special areas of tourist interest, working on the issue of integrated resorts and casinos, which will attract phenomenal revenue of around R$ 16 billion (US$ 4bn). We will have up to 35 casinos in Brazil,” said Santos.

Within this Provisional Measure, is also the elimination of the international boarding fee, as announced by the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Freitas. “Flybondi, for example, offers tickets in the order of US$ 20, while the currently charged fee is around US$ 18. With the elimination of this fee, can you imagine the attractiveness for the 'brothers'?,” asked Santos.

"Another point is the National Tourism Security System, which will be created along the same lines as the Unified Health System (SUS), to meet one of the main bottlenecks in the sector, creating a security environment throughout the country," added Mtur’s national secretary.
