Antonio Salord, Sales Manager for LatAm

“Magellan Robotech already works to start operations in Brazil”

In an exclusive interview for the “Games & Media News” site, Antonio Salord, Magellan Robotech’ Sales Manager for LatAm, highlights the value that gaming and entertainment have for Latin Americans, while considering that the passion for football in the region will be a strong stimulus for the advancement of sports betting. “By 2020, we aim to continue growing, with high expectations and a timely focus on Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Argentina,” says Salord.

Games & Media News - Three months after joining the company, what are your first impressions about your role and about the qualities and advantages of Magellan Robotech solutions?
Antonio Salord - Working at Magellan Robotech is being a very enriching experience. I have a team of outstanding work, composed of professionals from the sector with many years of experience. We are working to continue with our expansion plan in Latin America, with the focus on the countries that are about to regulate iGaming and with the greatest potential, such as Brazil, Peru or Argentina. Magellan Robotech provides solutions for the sector of gaming. We cover services for sports betting, virtual games, lotteries and even self-service terminals. Our products are innovative and are always at the forefront of technology. It is essential to ensure competitiveness. On the other hand, we seek to prioritize our customers and adapt to the needs of each of them.

What value does the support of a group recognized in the sector like Stanleybet have for a five-year-old company?
The experience and know-how acquired by the Stanleybet Group as an operator throughout all these years have been key to developing and innovating Magellan Robotech products. We have the ability to understand the needs of operators. Thus, through this experience and the creation of advanced products, we help our clients to meet their objectives.

Why is Latin America a region of particular interest for the company and how have sales of the platform evolved this year?
There are several factors that make Latin America a key region for us. Operators and suppliers are looking for new markets outside Europe, due to strong competition and the maturity of European markets. Then, there is a need to take advantage of new opportunities offered by growing and regulatory markets. Let's not forget that, in Latin America, gambling has always been very relevant. We live in a region with a strong culture of play and entertainment. There is also a great passion for football in that region. This is a key factor for the growth of the sports betting market. As for our evolution in the continent, we are working to start operations in Peru, Colombia and Brazil. The last months have been very intense and, at the same time, very positive for Magellan Robotech.

What real possibilities do you see about the progress in the legalization of sports betting and online gambling in this region, taking into account the recent political-economic conflicts in many countries of the continent?
In recent years, we have seen some progress. However, it is true that the political situation is preventing the regulations of sports betting and online gambling from becoming a reality. In Peru, we found that the dissolution of Congress paralyzed the bills presented, while, in Argentina, there is a climate of uncertainty for our industry following the latest election results. However, we believe that it is a matter of time for the regulation to take shape in different Latin American countries.

What are your company's business objectives for the next twelve months?
By 2020, we aim to continue growing in the region, with high expectations and a timely focus on Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Argentina. At the same time, we are convinced that our solutions will be a success in Latin America, especially our Trident virtual football tournament, which stands out for being a product with innovative features. In the future, at the ICE London fair in February 2020, we will present all the technological novelties that we are developing for gaming operators.
