Request calls for installation of eSports and Electronic Games Front in Brazil’s Chamber

Brazilian federal deputy Colonel Chrisostomo has filed an application requesting the Parliamentary Front of the Representatives House to register for the Electronic Games sector. The intention is to create a group that can propose and support contributions to the eSports sector in the country. The activity also has a draft regulation in the Senate.

In addition to Deputy Colonel Chrisóstomo, author of the request, are also involved in this project the parliamentarians Aline Sleutjes, Luiz Lima and Celina Leão.

In the text of the petition presented to the president of the House, Rodrigo Maia, the deputies affirm that the mission of the Parliamentary Front in favor of the Electronic Games and Games is to propose strategies and actions to support and contribute to the development of the sector, in particular, the modality of eSports competitions.

The request is registered at the Board of Directors of the House and awaits the vote of the plenary.

It is worth remembering that the Senate is also debating the subject of Electronic Sports. Bill 383/2017 that regulates the electronic games is in the House and still has a long way to go.

On November 7, there was a public hearing at the House's Education, Culture and Sport (EC) Commission, where it was requested more market participation in the draft of the law text that would regulate the activity.

If an application for the creation of the parliamentary front in the Chamber is approved, electronic sports will have more space in the legislature having official representation in both houses of Congress.
