Rio Grande do Sul Jockey Club wants to offer sports betting to get out of crisis

On its official website, Brazilian JCRGS Board publishes a strong editorial stating that the activity is going through a serious crisis that even complicates paying prizes to owners and breeders. “Our activity goes from bad to worse in the country, there is absolutely no government incentive but sports betting for sports entities (here is where turf comes in) and with 'more products' at our accredited agencies will have better chances to be dignified,” sates the entity.

Following is the full editorial of the JCRGS Board:

The end of 2019 is approaching and the JCRGS Board's efforts to catch up on the awards are starting to pay off. At the end of last week, the professional commissions for the GP BENTO GONÇALVES Festival were paid and this week the prizes due to the owners regarding this event are being paid.
Next week the CFO will update the owners and breeders awards due under the current management, with which we will strictly keep up with the amounts due from July 2018, when we assumed, to the present day. The rigor with the finances of the Club will remain firm and we hope no further delays, with the goal of keeping them always up to the end of this election term (July 2021), providing a less financial sacrifice to owners and breeders, thanking them their understanding, collaboration and partnership with the difficulties experienced by local and national turf.
It's time for the turnaround, with up-to-date prizes, new facilities and full 'VH', the programs will have to improve qualitatively, reflecting on the betting movement and the marketing of horses, so we will start the year 2020 with new spirits and we will certainly resume the best times of the Hipódromo do Cristal.
In this year and a half of the current management we have heard very negative issues, social networks have become 'missile launchers' of negativity and misplaced criticism, a lot of 'fakes' news and sadly little people willing to work for turf. It's like that, but it doesn't have to be.
Our activity goes from bad to worse in the country, there is absolutely no government incentive, but it seems that there are people who do not understand that only our union and collective work can keep turf active. There is a lot of work being done behind the scenes, here comes the sports betting for the Football Clubs and Sporting Entities (here is where turf comes in), becoming another instrument of competition with us and we should prepare to enter this sector too, otherwise we will lose another slice of the gambler market.
Some will say - the usual negativists - that if we 'mix up the activities' (betting on turf and other sports) we risk losing 'clients' to sports betting (football, F1, boxing, cycling, etc.), But who guarantees that the exact opposite cannot happen, that is, having sports bets in our agencies will not win new bettors for turfe? What's more, with 'more products' in the agencies our accredited will have a better chance of being dignified.
Let's move on, with the work and perseverance of everyone involved, the JCRGS will rebuild.
