During his presentation at the 4th Brazilian Tourism Forum, Congressman Herculano Passos demanded from the Senate the approval of the General Tourism Law. According to the deputy, the House of Representatives approved the 118 articles of the Law, but now that it has reached the Senate has been delayed for almost a year. The deputy asked the Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, help to demand more agility in the approval, which is necessary to boost tourism in Brazil.
Passos also celebrated the holding of the Forum. For him, it is a landmark for tourism, which managed to bring together several leaders and people related to tourism to discuss the challenges of the sector. "The government is making policies to boost tourism, we had the opening of foreign capital for airlines, visa-free for various nationalities and now for Chinese, and all projects being developed," he said.
He also cited the importance of legalizing casinos. According to him, casinos have been banned for over 70 years in the country and Brazilians travel to other destinations every year to play and spend money. “We need to make progress on this as well. The taxes of this sector will be invested in several other projects for the population,” he concluded.
