Control Board analyst Michael Lawton said it was the fourth straight year-on-year monthly increase in as many months. “It was the fifth billion-dollar month for the year and the highest September in state history. We’re trending nicely after a slow start for the year,” Lawton said.
Lawton highlighted an increase in slot machine play as having a positive effect with win totalling US$690.2 million, an increase of 8.3% or US$52.7 million. He explained that slot win has increased seven times in 2019 and is up 3% so far in 2019.
“The positive trend line that we are witnessing in slots is being driven by continued increases to volumes which were up 1.4% this month,” he said. “Slot volumes have increased in seven consecutive months and through September are up 2.1%.”
Downtown Las Vegas posted the highest percentage increase among the state’s 19 submarkets with a year-on-year increase of 19.9% with winnings reaching US$65.9 million.
Nevada’s’ best ever monthly total came in October 2007 when the casino sector posted winnings of US$1.165 billion.
