Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor highlights release of casinos to encourage business

Last week, businessmen from various segments of the Rio de Janeiro economy, who are representatives of the group “Juntos pelo Rio” (Together for Rio), met with the city’s Mayor, Marcelo Crivella, at the LSH hotel in Barra da Tijuca. Among the issues presented by the mayor to foster business and tourism in the city are the municipalization of the port pier and the release of casinos.

The meeting aimed to bring the business community closer to the public manager, presenting their main demands and claims. At the time, the Mayor also presented a balance sheet of his management, in addition to being aligned with the need to foster improvements in the business environment in Rio de Janeiro.

Among the issues presented by Crivella to foster business and tourism in the city are the municipalization of the port pier and the release of casinos. The president of ABIH-RJ, Alfredo Lopes, reinforced the importance of reducing bureaucracy for organizing events in the city, arguing that it is an economy sector that moves the entire municipal economic chain.

The “Juntos pelo Rio” meeting was organized by Hotels Rio and was attended by Gutemberg Fonseca, municipal secretary of Public Order; and Sancler Mello, new superintendent of Barra da Tijuca.
