Pending bets that are not settled by November 8 will be canceled and the amount invested refunded by November 11.
According to information released by the online gaming site, "legal reasons" led to the decision not to make its site available in Portuguese at a time when the Brazilian market is awaiting regulation of sports betting.
At the end of 2018, the National Congress approved the law authorizing the Federal Government, through the Secretariat of Finance, to establish rules for the licensing of online gaming sites in the country. This process is underway.
The Finance Secretariat has released a document for public consultation and received over two thousand suggestions for amendments in the initial text. It should publish by the end of the year a new version of the text with the changes accepted by government officials.
In the midst of this process, a number of bookmakers have launched websites aimed at Brazilian gamblers and invested in advertising in sports tournaments in the country and especially in football clubs. In Series A, more than half of the teams have brands of online gaming sites stamped on their shirts.
