Suaposta founder to speak about new sports betting market in Brazil during ICE

Taking into account the recent legalization of sports betting in Brazil, ICE decided to add the Andre Gelfi, founder and partner of Suaposta.com, to the panel 'Putting sports fan/consumer at the center of your sports betting strategy', in one of the seminars to be held on this Wednesday (6), during the second day of ICE London 2019. 'I am looking forward to share my thoughts on how change will unfold in the Brazilian betting market,' Gelfi said.

The sports betting market in Brazil, currently estimated at between US$ 200 to US$ 300 million, can quintuple with the legalization, regulation and concession of betting lotteries in the country, that is, around US$ 1.5 billion per year.

"This is the potential of betting companies in Brazil," says Andre Gelfi, founder-partner of Suaposta, the first licensed sports betting platform in the Brazilian market. The company already operates with horse races and wants to offer bets on other sports as soon as the Ministry of Finance authorizes the activity.

As new large markets are now opening up to legal sports betting, particularly USA and Brazil, ICE London expects an influx of visitors from these jurisdictions eager to learn about the policy, product, technology and marketing strategies to create a successful market.

Organised in association with ICE NA and NIGA, this free seminar on the show floor will provide the learning and networking platform for new entrants and those with expertise to share. As a result of the cooperation with the National Indian Gaming Association, the afternoon sessions will focus on sports betting opportunities in tribal gaming and the USA.

Gelfi will be part of the seminar “Sports Betting in New Markets & in Indian Country”, in the following pannel:

Other Brazilians will also be part of ICE 2019

Considered the largest international trade show in the gaming industry, ICE London 2019 will take place this week (February 4-7) at ExCel in UK capital city. Among the speakers invited by the organization is the Brazilian Luiz Felipe Maia. Professor and certified lawyer in regulation of casinos and bets by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the United States, he will be the unique representative of national Law in the event. He will be one of the speakers on the ICE Vox schedule, today (4), and will also be part of a panel on sports betting on Wednesday(6), within the IMGL Masterclass schedule.

Sports betting was approved by the Brazilian federal government late last year and Maia was among the active contributors to make the project come true. "In December 2018, Law 13,756 was approved, which created fixed bets on sporting events, which should be regulated by the Ministry of Economy in the next four years. Once this process is completed, the sports betting licenses may be granted and several international companies are expected to come to the country. We are talking about a market that generates billion dollar revenues worldwide, with publicly traded companies," explains the lawyer.

The panel of which Maia will be part of at ICEVOX will discuss the perspectives of the gaming industry in Brazil and will also be attended by Alexandre Manoel Angelo da Silva and Waldir Eustáquio Marques Júnior, respectively secretary and general coordinator of the Secretariat for Fiscal, Energy and Lottery (Sefel) of the Ministry of Economy.

In addition to this event, Maia will be one of the IMGL Masterclass instructors on the topic "Sports Betting - Evolving Issues". The objective is to deal with themes related to both places where this type of practice is a reality, as in emerging markets such as Brazil. Experts will discuss issues such as data usage, sports integrity, advertising, and factors that may create legal obstacles in different parts of the world.

"I have been a lecturer at ICE London since 2012 and it is always a great opportunity to exchange relevant information. We live an important moment of transition in Brazil, with the opportunity to implement a new business model that will bring investment and job creation to the country," says Luiz Felipe.
