"We have plans to open the capital of card companies, insurance, lotteries and asset management throughout the second half of this year and the first half of next one," said the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, in an interview published this weekend at Brazilian newspaper O Globo.
Regarding the process of these operations, with which the bank expects to raise at least US$ 3.45bn, Guimarães commented that "it is advanced. I'm already going to have a road show for the card and insurance areas in June."
When asked about the timetable, Guimarães gave more details: "Caixa Inurance and Caixa Cards, between September and December of this year, and Caixa Lotteries and Caixa Asset between January and April of next year."
Regarding what the entity intends regarding the participation of Brazilians in this type of operations, Guimarães commented: "We are going to make a minority offer. And we want to involve the retail. We have less than 800 thousand people investing in shares in Brazil. It is less than 0.4% of the population. In developed countries, they are 25%. If people were similar to the average of these countries, they would be more than 50 million Brazilians investing. We want to increase the number of Brazilians who invest in stocks".
Finally, when asked about the volume of resources that these operations can generate, the president of the Caixa was contunedne: "In general, we are talking about about US$ 3.45bn."
