Brazilian expert lawyer to talk about sports betting at SIGA Sport Integrity Forum

A Brazilian advisor and academic coordinator of the FGV / FIFA / CIES Executive Program of Sports Management and Law of Sports, FIFA Master, professor Pedro Trengrouse, was invited to participate in the SIGA Sport Integrity Forum V to provide his knowledge on sports betting. Former FIFA presidential candidate Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and former Barcelona starr and Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov will be among the speakers at the Forum.

The SIGA Sport Integrity Forum, that will take place at the New York Athletic Club, gathers global leaders and opinion makers from the world of sport, government, business and civil society. The aim is to address the most pressing challenges facing the governance and integrity of sport, and, through collective action and an action-orientated approach, instigate the necessary reforms worldwide.

"Sport betting is a massive - and largely underestimated - multi-billion-dollar industry that profits on the back of sports organisations and has a dark side that both undermines the integrity of sport and causes tremendous negative impact worldwide,” said Trengrouse, recently appointed as vice president of the new Special Commission on Sports, Lottery and Entertainment Law of the Brazilian Bar Association.

“It is time to eliminate its negative influence and to transform the current reality in which sport is being used as a tool for illicit purposes and illegal activity to one in which sport betting is actually a platform for positive impact", adds the professor as a preview of his speach at the event.

Former FIFA presidential candidate Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan and former Barcelona player and Bulgarian national team legend Hristo Stoichkov will be among the speakers at the SIGA Sport Integrity Forum at the New York Athletic Club, New York.

Prince Ali will be a significant contributor at the Forum with his experience throughout an era that has seen sport integrity become such a crucial issue for sport governing bodies and FIFA in particular. In 2015 he ran for the FIFA presidency himself.

The Sport Integrity Forum agenda includes panel sessions on a united approach to sport integrity, the role of global business as a catalyst for sport integrity, sports betting integrity, and youth development and child protection in sport.
