Next to a transatlantic terminal

Rio de Janeiro’s media reveals first image of probable casino at city’s Port

The 'Diário do Rio', one of the main web portals of the city, claims to have obtained an exclusive image of the first ideas for the new casino, coupled with a transatlantic terminal, that includes convention center, arena, shopping, marina, gardens and hotel with casino. 'Everything in a new area where the Port is disabled,' said the article signed by the executive editor of the website and Rio de Janeiro’s Ambassador of Tourism, Quintino Gomes Freire.

“Diário do Rio” has already been openly in favor of developing a casino in Rio de Janeiro. And so did Mayor Marcelo Crivella, Governor Wilson Witzel, and Head of the Congress, Rodrigo Maia.

Different studies show that the implementation of casinos integrated with hotels can result in the creation of 250 to 300 thousand jobs in the country, in addition to generating a collection of up to R$ 25 billion (US$ 5.8bn) for governments. And it would not be several "small casinos", but casinos-ressort. Rodrigo Maia predicts 32 nationwide.

The biggest highlight would be what Sheldon Adelson, owner of Las Vegas Sands, wants to do at the Port of Rio. And with a huge investment of billions of dollars, that can bring 50 thousand jobs.

The image obtained in exclusive by Diário do Rio is one of the ideas for the new casino, coupled with a transatlantic terminal. And includes also convention center, arena, shopping, marina, gardens and hotel with casino. All in a new area where the Port is disabled.

The author of the article is the publicist Quintino Gomes Freire, director of social media at Agência B5, speaker, defender of the Carioca Way of Life and Ambassador of Rio. He started the Diário do Rio in 2007 and is still running it, becoming one of the main web portals about Rio de Janeiro.

"The return of the casinos will be a turning point in our city, and it has never been so necessary. If the current mayor gets this investment, I think all Cariocas will forget other bad decisions taken by Crivella," said Gomes Freire.
