Marina Bay Sands to employ up to 700 new workers

The Marina Bay Sands casino resort is looking to boost its 10,000- strong workforce in order to meet a target of 11,000 employees by the end of 2019. In a press release, officials of the Singapore’s iconic property said that it would offer 700 job positions at a job fair held at the property’s Sands Expo and Convention Centre on 23 February.

The company said it was looking to hire additional bar staff, sous-chefs, security guards, butlers and slot machine attendants.

Last year, Marina Bay Sands reported an employee attrition rate last year of around 13.7 percent, lower than the industry-wide turnover rate of 29.4 turnover in the first nine months of 2018. Half of the property’s workforce has been with the company for more than five years.

The property recently launched a job-rotation scheme which aims to give employees the opportunity to experience all aspects of hotel operations, including the front office, food and beverage, guest services, valet and housekeeping departments.

“The Cross-Deployment Scheme allows us to identify talents and immerse them deeply in a variety of functions, in a fast-track and rewarding manner,” said Pek Chin Siong, VP of Hotel Operations at Marina Bay Sands.
