Without presence of Caixa, new Cibelae seminar begins today in Medellin

The Colombian city of Medellín is the chosen place for the Ibero-American Seminar 'Technology at the service of the Lotteries' that Cibelae carries out today and tomorrow. The meeting brings together about 70 lottery managers, regulators and experts in digital transformation processes and new businesses in the gaming market. Caixa (member of Cibelae) and Brazil’s Lottery Secretary of the Ministry of Economy will not attend. GLI and Intralot sponsor the event, among other companies.

"We have a presentation at the seminar addressed to CAIXA, but we will not be present on this agenda," a source of the state-owned bank told Games Magazine Brazil. Consulted on the reasons for the absence, Caixa said that "only internal issues, without major problems, in the next event that will be held in Uruguay we should participate." A similar case occurs with the Secretariat for Prizes and Draws and General Coordination of Lottery of the Ministry of Economy, which will not attend either.

This event will be held at the Hotel Dann Carlton Medellín and is organized by CIBELAE, which is the Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries, which brings together the most important lotteries in Latin America, Spain and Portugal, working together with the World Lottery Association (WLA)- and the Medellin Lottery.

The Seminar will include the participation of WLA's executive director, Luca Espósito Poleo, and also the GLMS secretary general, Giancarlo Sergi, who will talk about strategies in the fight against the problems of sports betting.

The panel on Table of Regulators will be attended by Sara Reyero from Spain’s ONCE; Armando Guerra from LNB Panama; José Ortiz, President from CONAJZAR Paraguay; and Rodolfo Martínez from LOTENAL Mexico.

Also, Sebastián Cuadrado of Intralot Chile; Gonzalo Torres of Scientific Games; George Didier Flores of Gaming Laboratories International; and Claudia Mendoza of IGT will participate in the Technology Panel.

On April 2 the experts to participate includes: Noemi Plaza from Sporting Solution; Gregor Errath from Playtech; Oscar Darío Pérez from Grupo Réditos Colombia; and Giancarlo Sergi from GLMS and the WLA in the Sports Betting Panel.

Finally, the Regulators table will be attended by: Luis Gama Hernández, president of CIBELAE and director of DNLQ Uruguay; René Roberto Flores, president of LNB El Salvador; Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, president of Coljuegos Colombia; and Esmeralda Britton González, president of Costa Rica’s JPS.
