Casinos installation in Brazil has almost total support in Chamber’s Tourism Commission

This week it was held the 11th Brazilian Congress of Convention & Visitors Bureau (C & VBx), which discussed good corporate and governmental practices aimed at attracting, holding events and promoting tourism. Organized in the National Congress and with many legislators participating, the President of the Tourism Committee of the Chamber, Deputy Newton Cardoso Jr., defended the installation of casinos in the country as a source of investment, job creation and revealed that the activity has support from most of the members of the committee.

In a video released on his social networks, Dep. Newton Cardoso Jr. made available part of his speech during the 11th Brazilian Congress of Convention & Visitors Bureau (C & VBx), where he reveals the support of the parliamentarians of the Tourism Committee to the idea of the return of casinos to the country. According to him, in a single integrated casino resort Brazil could receive US$ 2 billion in investments.

"We need to advocate for bigger projects, those that are not just focused on specific areas. And, one of them, who gains almost all the support of the members of the commission, is the approval of casinos. We believe that this unique project has the potential to bring billionaires investments to the country. It is said that a large integrated resort can receive investments of up to US$ 2 billion to once again legalize the gaming activity in Brazil. But not only that, the ability to generate one million jobs, something that today is fundamental in an environment of 13 million unemployed," said Newton Cardoso.

This is not the first time that the deputy defends the legalization of gaming as a source of tourism promotion. In March, when he was elected chairman of the Tourism Committee, he said that casinos would be at the center of the committee's debates, highlighting the potential for taxes that the activity would provide to the country.

"It is estimated that US$ 7.6 billion per year in tax revenues from this activity can actually contribute, if well implemented, to the Brazilian population," said Newton when taking over the tourism commission.

The 11th Brazilian Congress of Convention & Visitors Bureau took place this week (April 21-23) at the Nereu Ramos Auditorium, inside the National Congress. In addition to Newton Cardoso Jr., president of the Tourism Commission, other key names in the area attended the meeting, including federal representatives Marx Beltrão, former Minister of Tourism; and Herculano Passos, president of Frentur, the Parliamentary Front in Defense of Tourism.
