Audience with companies to regulate online gambling in Brazil to be held on May 22

The Commission of Sports of the Chamber published the date and the guest list for the public audience proposed by deputy Evandro Roman to debate with representatives of companies of the market about the regulation of online gaming in Brazil. It will take place on Wednesday, May 22 at 2:30 pm, in the Annex II of the Congress, in Brasilia. Karen Sierra (GLI), Tiago Horta Barbosa (Sportradar) and Witoldo Hendrich Júnior (Online IPS), among others, confirmed their presence. See the complete list.

Application 29/19, by deputy Evandro Roman, was unanimously approved by the House’ Sport Committee. In the document the parliamentarian asked for a Public Hearing with representatives of companies to discuss the regulation of online gaming in Brazil. In defense of the request, Roman recalled the lack of resources for the sport and that the country lives a pact of mediocrity where it pretends that the activity does not exist and, by working in the illegality, the one that loses is Brazil itself.

"We live today in a shortage of financial resources for the sport. I think we must debate. And in situations like these I think gaming have to be careful not to hit kids and not reach seniors. Because with gaming we have two possibilities: to regulate and bring resources to Brazil or it will exist in an illegal way. So one way or another the activity exists. We have the opportunity to bring that debate to the Chamber of Deputies and make it possible to be regulated and enforced," Roman said.

Being public, the audience could be seen by all those interested via streaming in this official link. Even now the site of "interactive audiences" already invites to ask questions or support another already made. The most voted questions will be forwarded to the Bureau to be answered. During the debate, a window on the right part of the screen will allow to interact with other users in a free chat.

The list of guests is not definitve and more specialists will be incorporated in the coming days. Games Magazine Brasil made contact with most of them and, from next Monday, it will offer exclusive interviews with the speakers so that they can tell their feelings when summoned by the Congress of Brazil and how they can contribute to a public audience relevant for the regulation of the online gaming sector in the country.
