Genius Sports CEO invited to speak at public hearing about online gaming in Brazil

Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sport, is one of the four new guests invited to participate at the public hearing that will take place next May 22nd at the Chamber of Deputies to discuss the new regulation of online gaming that Brazil will implement as of the legalization of the activity. In addition, Roberto Carvalho Fernandes (partner of Brasil Fernandes Advogados office), Pierre Tournier (RGA Director) and José Augusto de Araújo Neto (Judge retired at the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro) were also invited to the event.

The public hearing proposed by Congressman Evandro Roman to discuss with representatives of companies the regulation of the online gaming market in Brazil will be held next May 22nd, at 14:30 in Annex II of the Congress, in Brasilia. In defense of the request, the parliamentarian recalled the lack of resources for the sport and that the country lives a pact of mediocrity where it pretends that the game does not exist and the only injured is the country itself.

Genius Sports is a sports data and technology company that provides data management and integrity services to major sports leagues and organizations. The company was formed in 2016 following a merger between Betgenius, a technology and data supplier to the betting industry, and SportingPulse International, a sports data and software business, to form Genius Sports Group. Betgenius became a subsidiary of Genius Sports Group with its co-founder Mark Locke becoming the Group CEO.

Locke has over 15 years’ experience in the sports and media industry. He first joined Betgenius in 2001 and under his astute leadership the company has grown consistently year on year. Following the success of Betgenius, Mark launched Sport Integrity Monitor, now a product of Genius Sports, to address integrity issues in regulated betting markets.

The list of invited speakers already has 23 experts (many still must confirm their presence) but it is speculated that this week this number could grow.
