Wilson Witzel: "We will approve the casinos in Rio de Janeiro later this year"

On Wednesday (12), the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, and the governor of the state, Wilson Witzel, attended the World Chambers Congress that brings together in Barra de Tijuca more than a thousand business leaders and authorities from different countries until tomorrow (14). There, both defend the legalization of casinos, assured that each state can regulate its way and informed that the city fights in the Congress to obtain the approval this year.

The construction of 1 million houses, the exchange of 450 thousand LED streetlights, the acquisition of 10,000 face recognition cameras and 5 thousand Wi-Fi points were some of the business opportunities with the City Hall highlighted by Marcelo Crivella in his speech.

One of the speakers at the opening ceremony, the mayor of Rio made an impromptu speech in English. During the talk of about ten minutes, he informed the public about the efforts he has made for the liberation of casinos in the country.

"We are fighting now so that the Brazilian Congress will allow us to have casinos here, something that the modern world already enjoys and that we want to have also in in Rio," said Crivella.

"We need people to invest, important people, to work together with us," he said in English to the present audience. In addition, Crivella cited plans for the construction of the Deodoro race track to host Formula One events.

The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel, also attended the event and announced talks for the privatization of Rio de Janeiro’s Port.

Wiztel said he is personally conducting the project to legalize casinos in Brazil, with the aim of attracting more business in the tourism sector. "We will approve the casinos in Rio de Janeiro later this year, and each state will regulate in its own way," he explained.

The World Chambers Congress brings together over a thousand business leaders and authorities from various countries and takes place in Barra de Tijuca until tomorrow, Friday.
