Organized by Clarion Events since 2013, this year's edition of BgC was attended by more than 400 people, including businessmen, politicians and providers interested in learning about the news and trends of the Brazilian online betting market that, according to estimates, can collect more than R$15 billion (US$ 3.9bn) per year. In this environment, startup App7 launched the first online betting platform of Brazil.
With an offer of more than 30,000 sports events every month, the platform goes from the online operation model to the operation through sales agents, making use of an integrated POS, ideal for sports bars, poker clubs and football stadiums.
GMB - App7 participated for the first time in BgC this year. What is your evaluation of the event and what do you consider the most important thing of this experience?
Elvis Lourenço - We decided to launch our platform and there’s no better event in Brazil today. We see BgC as the main follow-up fair in the country. We chose the event exactly for that reason, here were the best operators and providers gathered in one place. We also attended the panels and talks, which were very hopeful with the final part of the regulation of sports betting.
Tell us a little bit about App7 Sistemas. What is the firm’s trajectory and the products it offers to the market.
It was 2 years of research and development to create a platform ready to meet the needs and particularities of the Brazilian operator and bettor. It is no use copying and pasting the European model and try to apply here, because they are very different realities and publics. App7 Sistemas is a Brazilian start up, made by Brazilians. All of our structure is here in Brazil and we are proud to say that we are the first sports betting platform in the country.
And as a Brazilian platform, what do you point out as your differential compared to the future competitors that are coming from outside to operate sports betting?
Our system is focused on Brazilian operators because we understand our market and operation particularities, that are very different from the European or American operation. We act with the Brazilian operator in mind.
What is your opinion and expectation about the process of gaming legalization in Brazil?
We are very optimistic, that is the word and it can’t be otherwise. I believe that at most in two years we will have good surprises both in the sports betting issue and in other gaming modalities. The market is heading for this and will be very important to everyone involved in the industry.
