Cirsa boosts revenue by 8%

Spanish gaming giant Cirsa has reported an operating profit of €103.4 million in the first quarter, 8% more than in the same period last year, boosted by revenues which rose to €379 million. The multinational closed the first quarter with an increase in global revenues of 8.5%, according to a company statement.

The group reports that its casinos division was a major contributor and its refurbishment programme across 14 of its international venues had contributed.

At the same time the new Casino Jaragua in the Dominican Republic had come on stream at the end of last year and fresh gaming halls in Panama had also contributed.

There was also an improvement in the slots, VLTs and AWPs operating division, despite an increase in VAT that was brought into effect in Italy. The bingo halls division in the Spanish domestic market had also shown an improvement.

In production and sales of machines through the Unidesa subsidiary, the new On The Rocks AWP for Spain was performing well. Good reports were made of the operations in Mexico, the arcades division and the Sportium sports betting offshoot.

Cirsa operates 150 casinos, over 75,000 machines, 70 bingo halls, 191 arcades and 3,000 betting outlets.
