Yahoo Sports: Bolsonaro and the “triumph” for the sports betting market

The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, is seen as the main responsible for facilitating the opening of the sports betting market for domestic and international companies, according to Eduardo Ohata, a journalist for Yahoo Sports. In his video blog, he refers to an analysis where Professor Pedro Trengrouse assures that the liberal character of the new government facilitates the regulation of the betting sector that the foreign companies need.

The video begins with the journalist explaining the international interest in the Brazilian betting market. According to him, this international focus in the country is justified by the invitations to Professor Pedro Trengrouse to lecture at some of the most important events in the world, such as the IAGA Summit, now in June and also write articles for influential international media such as G3 Magazine.

But the main highlight of the video is the possibility of President Jair Bolsonaro to influence the regulation of sports betting and, thus, facilitate the coming of foreign companies to Brazil.

"One thing that Trengrouse will talk about in his sessions and also wrote in his article is about the liberal character of the Bolsonaro government. It is a government that has little interference in the life of the citizen, and this should facilitate the regulation of sports betting and others as well. Recalling that these foreigners are watching and monitoring with much interest," explained the journalist of Yahoo Sports.

Ohata was a reporter for "A Gazeta Esportiva", editor of the behind-the-scenes column Painel FC in Folha de S.Paulo, and blogger at UOL. Co-author of the books "Anderson Spider Silva" and "Lars Grael, A Leader for Our Times", he has research credits and editing script in the HBO series "The Great Fight", in addition to more than a decade of experience commenting fights for ESPN. He also covered three Olympics, one Worl Cup and two Panamerican Games, among dozens of international competitions.
