Entering 2019, the UK legacy betting group underlined its intentions to launch a Spanish online gambling business, seeking to diversify its market make-up and revenue channels.
Confirming Betfred’s Spanish market developments, Group Chief Operating Officer Mark Stebbings said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Betfred and the Spanish licence is part of our ongoing expansion strategy.”
“There is clearly a real passion for sport especially football in Spain and we share that passion here at Betfred. We believe we bring the necessary expertise but also heritage and trust in this expanding market,” Stebbings added.
“OPTIMA was the natural choice for Betfred as we look to expand into the Spanish market . We have partnered with Jacob Lopez and his team because of their professionalism and the flexibility of their technology as we expand internationally,” he concluded.
Preparing for its Spanish market entry, last January Betfred confirmed that it had established a new operations hub in the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta to support its existing Gibraltar operations.
At a technical level, Betfred’s new Spanish domain will be powered by Seville-based industry solutions provider OPTIMA, who will act as Betfred’s lead player account management and systems provider.
