Singapore visitors reach 7.8 million in first five months

According to data from the local Tourism Board, Singapore attracted a total of 7.8 million visitors to the city-state in the first five months of the year, representing a 1.5 percent growth over the previous year. Some of the key attractions of the city are Genting Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, and Las Vegas Sands’ Marina Bay Sands.

The Singapore Tourism Board informed that around a third of the total number of visitors during the period came out of Southeast Asia, namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

However, the total number from this region declined slightly year-on-year (around 1%), to 2.6 million visitors.

On the other hand, visitors from the Greater China region showed growth, going up 3.2% year-on-year to 1.9 million.

Other markets showing strong growth was the Americas - which include USA and Canada – which grew 8% year-on-year to 404,988 visitors in the five months.
