Juan Carlos Dellepiane, New Business Manager in Latin America

"Brazil is an incredible market and a great opportunity for Global Bet"

Global Bet, a B2B developer and distributor of virtual sports based in Malta, is part of the list of companies that are watching the growth of the gaming market in Brazil and Latin America. Juan Carlos Dellepiane, New Business Manager in Latin America, spoke with GMB about the plans, expectations and challenges that the company sees in the country. 'We are ready and prepared to arrive in Brazil when the regulation is announced,' says Dellepiane.

GMB - Tell us more about Global Bet? What are the origins of the company and in which markets are they most successful?
Juan Carlos Dellepiane - Global Bet was created in 2004 as a family business in Austria and was the pioneer in bets on pre-recorded horse and dogs racing based on a certified RNG. With incredible success in Western European countries, GB supplied more than 3,000 land-based stores in just a few years. Global Bet is the largest independent provider of virtual sports in the market today.

How important is Brazil to its future expansion plans in the region?
It is not a secret that Brazil is one of the most potential markets in Latin America. Like all others, we see great potential in this market, believing that our products will bring new innovations as we see it in many other emerging jurisdictions.

How do you imagine the future regulated market in Brazil?
There are many market studies and business plans about the Brazilian gaming market. As has been said, it is one of the jewels in South America without a doubt. Regarding the regional lotteries and the traditional Brazilian sphere of play, we see a great update and modernization with our products.

Virtual sports have taken international markets by storm. For example, it is generating 25% of the entire sports betting market in Italy and even has a 70% market share in Africa. We are pretty sure that it will also be massive in Brazil, once it is ready to be presented.

At recent BgC edition, Global Bet had an active participation with its own stand. What led you to make that investment and how did they see the event?
For us it was our first time in Brazil. It was a natural step since we focused on the Latin American market this year. With a strong presence in Europe, Africa and Asia already, South America is the missing piece of the puzzle. The demand and success of our products in other markets in South America show a clear signal that the audience is looking for new offers of games like the ones we offer.

Would you be ready and prepared to arrive in Brazil when the regulation is announced?
Being a pure B2B company, we can answer this question with a clear YES. Having a vast experience in homologations and certifications, we are quite sure that, after knowing how we can introduce our games in the market, we will find the right way to do it. As our business model is exclusively B2B, we always support our partners (operators) in all steps to regulate the product and introduce it in the best way in each market.

What do you think about the boom of sponsorships of international betting houses in Brazilian football? Are brand actions that Global Bet could also do in the future?
As I mentioned, being a pure B2B provider, our marketing strategies are quite "simple". We provide operators with a complete turnkey solution. Virtual Sports is the most popular new product in the gaming industry, as it has many features and benefits for any gaming operator. It does not matter if it's traditional lotteries, bingo halls, betting shops, casinos or online operators, our content brings a lot of entertainment, boosting other products and increasing traffic. Many of our international clients invest heavily in international football teams, which seems to be an effective way of marketing, otherwise they would not do it. The same situation can arise in Brazil, of course, it is beneficial both for the game operator and for the football club.

Beyond Brazil, what other plans does Global Bet have for the region and which countries do you observe with greater maturity for the business?
There is a clear signal from Argentina. Being one step ahead with a regulatory framework, we have many interests of operators that will participate actively in the next tender that will take place in July. Also looking at Colombia and other markets it is clearly visible that there is a large regulatory wave underway that, at least in a second step, it also includes Virtual Sports. We are proud that operators around the world have chosen Global Bet as their first choice when it comes to Virtual Sports and we are confident that this trend will continue in the Latin American region as well.
