In the morning, they also participated in the second meeting of the CIBELAE’s (Ibero-American Corporation of Lotteries and State Betting) Council.

The event was hosted by CIBELAE and National Director of Lotteries and Games of Uruguay, Luis Gama. The event was declared of National, Ministerial, Tourism and Culture interest by the Uruguayan government. The venue of the party, Teatro Solis, is Uruguay's main theater and was inaugurated in 1856. During the event it also took place the special draw of the 200 Years of the Uruguayan Lottery, followed by a concert by one of the most important singers of Latin American popular music, the local Ruben Rada. The first prize of the night was worth US$ 50 million. In total, more than US$ 84 million was distributed among 9,000 different awards. The proceeds will be passed on to society.

Although the lottery has disappeared in several parts of the world, in Uruguay it is still a sector of weight in the economy. The main prizes – ‘Gordo de Fin de Año’ and ‘Revancha de Reyes’ - were sold successfully. "Today, young people have other more immediate gambling options. To face these challenges, the Lottery tries to modernize and offer more attractive prizes. In the last edition of the ‘Gordo de Fin de Año’ we gave more than 90%, more than the region, except Panama," said Luis Gama.

The CIBELAE board meeting was held at the Radisson Montevideo Victoria Plaza Hotel and was attended by 14 representatives from the State Lotteries of different countries, including Caixa Econômica Federal of Brazil. There, different current issues of the corporation, common problems and future plans were discussed.
