Games of chance in Brazil

“According to estimates by representatives of the gaming industry, the largest share of gambling in Brazil comes from local popular ‘jogo do bicho’ (US$ 3.2bn), slot machines (US$ 960m), sports betting and internet gaming (US$ 800m) and bingos (US$ 346m). But the whole gaming activity is still illegal in the country,' said writer and journalist Cláudio Humberto Rosa e Silva, editor-in-chief of Diário do Poder in his column 'Games of chance in Brazil.'

Cláudio Humberto Rosa e Silva (Alagoas) is a Brazilian journalist, columnist and editor-in-chief of Diário do Poder, responsible for the rise of former president Fernando Collor de Mello in the national political scene. His column is reproduced in newspapers of all Brazil.
