During the Brasil Futebol Expo

CBF organizes sports lotteries and football seminar attended by Alexandre Manoel

With an eye on the regulation of sports betting, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will present on September 6 the course ‘Sports Lottery and Football: Regulation and Sponsorship Opportunities’ within the Brasil Futebol Expo. It will be delivered by regulators Alexandre Manoel, SECAP Secretary of the Economy Ministry, and Ludovico Calvi, president of the Global Loterry Monitoring System (GLMS). The event aims to show the impact of the new law on the football scene.

Since December 2018, the law 13.756 has allowed the fixed odd sports betting activity throughout the national territory to be defined at the time of betting and how much will be won in the event of a hit.

Brazilian clubs are eyeing a slice of this market that already moves in Brazil about R$ 4 billion (US$ 1.05bn) per year, according to a study by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV). In addition, the football clubs are also interested in the sponsorships that major players in this segment can provide as they invest millions of euros in European clubs.

Observing this scenario, CBF invited experts Alexandre Manoel, SECAP secretary of the Ministry of Economy, and Ludovico Calvi, president of the Global Loterry Monitoring System (GLMS) for the ‘Sports Lottery and Football: Regulation and Sponsorship Opportunities’ course with the aim to explain the future scenario of the sports scene and especially in the Brazilian football business; how this market works, its restrictions and which companies already operate.

Alexandre Manoel is SECAP secretary of the Ministry of Economy and leads the team that works in the regulation of sports betting legalized with the law 13.756. With many years of experience in the lottery and gaming market, the secretary will present what he has already prepared to regulate the activity and answer questions about how this market should work in Brazil.

Ludovico Calvi is president of the Global Loterry Monitoring System (GLMS), an entity that monitors lottery activity around the world. It will show what international experiences have to teach Brazil so that the country can develop the best regulatory model for sports betting.

The ‘Sports Lottery and Football: Regulation and Sponsorship Opportunities’ course will take place on September 6, and lasts 4 hours, from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. The registration costs R$ 280 (US$ 75) and can be made on the event website at this link.

The lecture is part of the program of Brasil Futebol Expo, organized by CBF where some of the biggest references of national and international football will share knowledge in their respective areas.

In addition, the event is the ideal platform for companies and organizations that are directly or indirectly related to football and want privileged access to potential deals and contacts with possible customers. The event is a great opportunity to network with the football industry leaders. The Brazil Football Expo will take place from September 4th to 8th at the ProMagno Event Center in Sao Paulo.
