Yahoo Sports says betting can yield up to US$ 22 million to Brazilian clubs

In another video dedicated to sports betting, journalist Eduardo Ohata explains how football clubs can benefit from the new law. According to him, the amount to be shared between clubs can reach R$ 80 million (US$ 22m), however, it is necessary to pay attention because in some countries football teams have already been out of the cake of sports betting.

In the video Ohata begins by explaining that Article 30 of Law 13.756, which authorizes sports betting, states that clubs are entitled to 2% of all that is collected through sports betting activity.

According to the journalist, with the estimate that the modality moves R$ 4 billion (US$ 1.05bn) per year, the number destined to clubs would reach R$ 80 million (US$ 22m), amount that would be a payment for the use of the image of the teams.

Quoting Professor Pedro Trengrouse, Ohata recalls that this number may be just the tip of the iceberg, remembering that with the regulation of sports betting more companies have come to the country, and that this value tends to grow even more.

But the journalist also warns that clubs need to keep an eye on the regulatory process in order not to lose that amount in the future. He explains that in countries such as England regulators have understood that information about clubs used by gambling companies is public, and this gives the team right about the amount raised from the activity.

Despite the warning, Ohata points out that in Brazil the issue has been treated with great care due to the government's recognition and interest in the potential of sports betting. He mentions the president of the Paulista Football Federation, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, as one of the leaders of the club cause in the subject of sports betting.

According to the journalist, Bastos has been studying the subject to help not only the more important clubs, but also the small ones.
