Rafael Moraes wins "The Venom"

For the first time a Brazilian won US$ 1 million in online poker tournament

The achievement was of the professional player Rafael Moraes. The Paulista won ‘The Venom’, tournament of the Americas Cardroon site, and took home US$ 1,050,559. A member of Latina Poker and a partner of 4Bet Team, Moraes is one of the most well-known and beloved poker players in the country. Given this, the achievement was much celebrated by many of the Brazilian poker community, showing that those who dedicate and study finally have great results.

The day July 24, 2019 was historic for Brazilian poker. Rafael Moraes ran over the field of 2,553 entries from Americas Cardroom's ‘The Venom’ tournament and won the great prize of US$ 1,050,559. The hit became the biggest prize ever won by a Brazilian in online MTTs.

Therefore, the new number 1 award changed the list of the highest prizes obtained by Brazilians. Moraes outperformed Luis Felipe Taveira, the online “Hulk9950” from Paraná, who received US$ 960,000 for his victory at PokerStars Sunday Millions Birthday in early February last year.

Playing under the nickname "TheBigKid" on ACR, Rafael Moraes completely dominated the final table, reaching 3-handed with 80% of the chips in play. The win was a matter of time and came in a hand where the two finalists ended up all-in on the turn, with the Brazilian paying to see and beating the Canadian.

The next edition of Americas Cardroom's ‘The Venom’ tournament is now available in the online room and features an even bigger prize pool, with $ 6,000,000 guaranteed. The first start day is scheduled for November 27, 2019.
