A UK£3 million a year deal

Manchester United signs sponsorship deal with Asian bookmaker Yabo Sport

English football giant Manchester United have added Yabo Sport to its portfolio of partners. The Asian betting brand has secured a deal that includes branding across the Premier League club’s physical and digital branding worth as much as UK£3 million a year. Following the deal, Yabo Sport, whic replaces Mo Play, will now be the official gambling partner of the club.

The deal has been confirmed as a multi-year contract which sees Yabo Sport placed in the club’s top-tier global sponsor category as official gambling partner. In August last year, United announced a deal with MoPlay to become their designated partner for that inventory but the Addison Global-owned brand now appears to have been replaced by Yabo Sport.

Yabo Sport were presented as the club’s new partner ahead of Sunday’s match with Chelsea, with the company’s branding visible on LED board signage during the game and on United’s website.

The addition of United sees Yabo Sport add to its partnership roster which already includes European soccer teams such as Bundesliga club Hertha BSC and LIgue 1’s AS Monaco, as well as its Asian presenting sponsorship of Italy’s top-flight Serie A.

Manchester United has a fleet of partners including Adidas, Chevrolet, Aon, DHL and more. It has a massive £750 million deal with sportswear giant Adidas. Adidas would make the club’s kit over a 10-year period. Their Jersey is sponsored by Chevrolet and the deal is expected to be worth £500 million.

Amidst concerns about gambling companies sponsoring sporting events, Nine of the 20 teams in this season’s Premier League have partnered with gambling companies for their shirt sponsorship.
