Banestes bank would perform the operation

Government of Brazilian state Espirito Santo studies to implement own lottery

Espirito Santo Governor Renato Casagrande (PSB) confirmed that he is studying the feasibility of setting up a state lottery and that the idea is to allocate the funds raised to three areas: urban mobility, sports and culture. Gazeta Online columnist Beatriz Seixas informs that the proposal is still in an initial stage, but more members of the governor's team have already sought references from other states such as Minas Gerais.

The Attorney General's Office is the body that is in charge of these analyzes, which will identify if there is any legal restriction to implement the idea. “I asked PGE to analyze. I still don't know if it's possible to create it. I want to study the hypothesis to help finance public transportation. Lottery is like this: one part is a prize and the other is a result. So, these resources go to culture, sport and mobility.”

Although Casagrande explains that the proposal is still in an initial phase, he says that members of his team are already seeking references from other states that have local lottery, such as Minas Gerais. "The sports secretary (Junior Abreu) was talking to MG because Minas has a lottery that works very well," said the governor.

Even with the incipient idea, behind the scenes, state owned bank Banestes is seen as the institution that would most likely carry out this operation. Also, because the institution could use its structure, especially the branches of Banesfácil. Today there are about 400 all over Espirito Santo.
