Betfair is new sponsor of Conmebol’s Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana

Since last night with the presence of Betfair brand on the advertising spots of the Gremio vs Palmeiras match in Porto Alegre, one of the international leading betting sites set foot in South American football. While full details are unknown, Betfair is already a new official sponsor for the next 4 years of the two main Conmebol’s championships: Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. Due to regulatory reasons, advertising points to Betfair.net, a site that is not betting but seeks to expand the brand in the continent.

Last night, the strong presence of the brand on the advertising boards of the game played in the Arena do Gremio by the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores was quite overwhelming. Conmebol has not yet made the agreement official but Betfair has already been included in the official brand banner that is placed behind the players in post-match interviews. With this, Conmebol has a total of 9 sponsors. Betfair joins Qatar Airways, Amstel, Bridgestone, Santander, Gatorade, Mastercard, Rexona and Tag Heuer.

                                                           



The brand also had an important presence last night on the boards of the game played in Belo Horizonte, between Atletico Mineiro and La Equidad, valid for the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana.

Taking into account that the sponsorship is regional and that in each country there are different regulations, Betfair chose to point its advertising to the Betfair.net site where it is barely described in Spanish and Portuguese how the Libertadores and Sudamericana Cups are disputed but it is clarified that the site is not for betting.                     

                                                       

                                 
            
In this way, the company seeks to gain presence in the continent at a time when countries such as Brazil and Argentina open their betting markets and evaluate the forms of regulation. The .net extension allows to avoid the IP blockages that certain local governments of South American countries exercise over betting sites.
