In second quarter

Philippine gross gambling revenue up 10.7%

Gross gambling revenue (GGR) in the Philippines rose 10.7% drign the second quarter of the fiscal year, though revenue from licensed casinos slipped from the prior quarter. The Philippine Gaming and Amusement Corp. said GGR from all forms of gambling for the quarter was US$1.14 billion, compared with US$ 1.03 billion a year earlier.

Revenue from licensed casinos was US$ 998 million, up 10.6% from the prior year, but down from the US$ 1billion posted in the first quarter.

The main reason for the decline was a fall in VIP revenue and declines in revenue at casinos run by the regulator.

VIP revenue at licensed casinos was US$ 251 million in the second quarter, compared with US$ 268 million in the first period. Revenue at PAGCOR-operated casinos was down almost 4% to US$ 173 million.

Casinos in gaming and entertainment complex Entertainment City pulled in US$ 773 million, up from US$ 681 million a year earlier and up from US$ 760 million the prior quarter.
