The rapporteur of the proposal was Senator Esperidião Amin (PP-RS), for whom the new resources will strengthen the structure to combat many cross-border crimes, such as drug, weapons and even people traffic. He only regretted that FNSP resources have not been fully applied in recent years.
“In 2016 this Fund had R$ 469.9 million (US$ 113m), but only R$ 313.8 million (US$ 75m) was committed. In 2017, the budget forecasted R$ 1.01 billion (US$ 242m), but only R$ 683.2 million (US$ 164m) was committed. And last year they allocated R$ 636.4 million (US$ 153m), with R$ 491.9 million (US$ 118m) committed,” he complained.
The proposal, which is authored by Senator Jayme Campos (DEM-MT), now goes to the Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) for analysis.
