Said ABIH’s president

For Santa Catarina hotel market, "casinos are a hope for the sector and whole tourism"

In an interview with local ‘O Diario do Turismo’, Osmar José Vailatti, president of the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association of Santa Catarina (ABIH-SC) expressed that 'casinos move jobs, move the economy and provide leisure environments for people'. He thinks that after the legalization, there will certainly be investors interested on betting on Santa Catarina state.

With the theme “Solutions and Innovations for the Hotel Industry”, the 32nd edition of the Santa Catarina Hoteliers Meeting in Florianópolis, CentroSul -next August 13-15- will become the meeting point of entrepreneurs and tourism and hospitality professionals from all over Brazil.

Given the importance of the event and its significance for the tourism economy, ‘O Diario do Turismo’ spoke with Osmar José Vailatti, president of the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association of Santa Catarina (ABIH-SC). Among the issues raised is the legalization of casinos within resorts.

Regarding ABIH's position on the issue and the hotel industry (especially Santa Catarina resorts), Vailatti said: "As for the legalization of casinos I would even say it is a hope for hotel and tourism because casinos move jobs, move the economy and provide recreational environments for people."

"In Santa Catarina we certainly do not have a hotel structure model to house a quality casino today, but I believe that after the legalization we will certainly have investors to bet in Santa Catarina to have here the necessary tools to develop the activity of a casino", added the president of ABIH-SC.
