Bolsonaro plans to let states decide to legalize casinos and gambling

During the election campaign, President Jair Bolsonaro took a stand against the release of casinos and gambling in Brazil but considered allowing each state to decide on the issue. And it seems that it will be that way. According to Onyx Lorenzoni, the issue must be analyzed along with changes in the rules of the federative pact. 'This would speed up the process of setting up casinos, especially in tourist areas,' said the minister of the Civil House.

During the election campaign, President Jair Bolsonaro took a stand against the release of casinos and gambling in Brazil but considered allowing each state to decide on the issue. And that is the trend ahead.

This Thursday (19), the Minister of the Civil House, Onyx Lorenzoni, spoke about the subject during an event at the Commercial Association of Porto Alegre (ACPA).

In response to businessman Eduardo Oltramari's question about the possibility of legalizing casinos, the minister said that the proposal to give autonomy to the federation units to decide whether or not to allow the activity is the most solid within the government.

"This would speed up the process of setting up casinos, especially in tourist areas," said Onyx. According to the head of the Civil House, the issue should be dealt with along with changes in the rules of the federative pact next year.

If the discussion is based, the government will have a strong ally to approve the initiative. Mayor Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) is a strong defender of gambling release in the country.
