Luiz Felipe Maia will give two talks at IMGL Autumn Conference 2019

Next week, lawyer Luiz Felipe Maia, a gambling expert and partner at FYMSA, will be in Munich, Germany, giving two lectures on the regulation of sports betting and the prospect of regulating other sports in Brazil. He will be part of the panel at the IMGL Autumn Conference 2019, which will take place next September 11 to 13.

Brazilian lawyer Luiz Felipe Maia will participate in two lectures during the IMGL Autumn Conference 2019, which will take place between September 11 and 13, in Munich, Germany. In first place, he will talk about the regulation of sports betting in Brazil and then will participate in a roundtable discussion about the process of regulation of gaming in the country.

In conversation with GMB, Maia talked about the new invitation to participate in the German event and anticipates a little of what he intends to tell to the public about the gaming sector in Brazil.

"This is the second time I have been invited to speak at an IMGL event and it is a great honor to have been the first Brazilian to be accepted as a General Member since 2014. It is an excellent opportunity to learn and exchange experiences and information with lawyers and regulators from various countries in an environment of eminently technical discussions. I want to talk about the development of sports betting regulation, the success of the SECAP public consultation and what we can expect in the medium and long term," explains the lawyer.

Maia also highlights the importance of such a relevant event in the European market as IMGL, opening space to talk about Brazil.

"Brazil is a huge market with great potential for both sports betting and casinos, both physical and online. European operators, as well as North American and Asian, all look to Brazil as a great opportunity."

Based on this European interest in the success of the SECAP public consultation, Maia says the expectation is to have a good and qualified exchange of experiences in Munich.

"Given the volume of contributions received by the public consultation of sports betting, which has exceeded 1,500 participants, and the various contacts received in recent weeks, the expectation for the lecture and the round table is a very qualified and numerous audience," concludes the Brazilian.

The International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL) is a non-profit association of gaming lawyers, regulators, educators, executives and consultants from around the world dedicated to education and the exchange of information and professional advice. The open network and collective experience of its members make IMGL an effective tool for the spread of game law development around the world.
