This morning, international media EGR Intel published a titled article: “Resignation of top official casts uncertainty over Brazil's regulation timeline”, where it ensured that “the regulation of Brazil's sports betting market could be subject to further delays following the resignation of key ministry official Alexander Manoel, the head of the body in charge of rolling out fixed-odds sports betting legislation in the South American country, will leave his post in March.”
Given this information, Manoel clarifies that although his departure is decided, he does not have a specific date and that the move will not affect the work that is being done so that the sports betting law can be presented in March.
“When the date of my departure is precisely defined, I will communicate it publicly. But what I can tell you is that the work continues and is evolving, hoping that both Sweepstake and Sports Betting will be regulated by the end of March,” says Manoel.
Although the secretariat did not confirm it, it is most likely that the exit will occur after the sports betting law has been presented to close neatly a long and arduous work that Manoel himself has been doing with his entire team at SECAP.
