Congressman Ronaldo Santini (PTB)

“Today, money laundering happens with jogo do bicho and Brazil turns a blind eye to that”

Congressman Ronaldo Santini (PTB) defends that Congress again debate the legalization of gambling in Brazil. On the website 'O Antagonista', he said that each state could have a casino and that the evangelical bench tends to resist a lot, but believes that 'the matter needs to be discussed, because there are casinos worldwide.'

“Each state could have a casino. How do you control [the risk of money laundering and other crimes]? Simple: prohibits money in the casino. Only electronic currency. And the income obtained there could be reverted to public security projects, crime prevention,” he commented to O Antagonista website.

These ideas came to be taken over by the government of Michel Temer, when a project on the topic of authorship by Ciro Nogueira, president of the PP, narrowly passed.

Santini said that the evangelical bench tends to resist a lot, but he believes that "the matter needs to be discussed, because there are casinos worldwide."

"Let's be honest: today money laundering happens with jogo do bicho, for example; and Brazil turns a blind eye to that," added Santini.

Last week, as O Antagonista reported that Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of the President of the Republic, met in Las Vegas, on a trip paid for by the Senate, with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson.

In Brasilia, parliamentarians are preparing to try to move forward with projects that deal with this topic when they return from summer recess. Senator Roberto Rocha (PSDB), for example, suggests that casinos can be authorized only within resorts and in the Northeast region of the country.
