Brazilian Deputy Alencar da Silveira Jr. to cut the inaugural ribbon with Kate Chambers at ICE

Brazil will have a prominent participation in the opening of ICE London 2020, the most important European gaming fair of the year. Clarion Gaming invited Minas Gerais state deputy Alencar da Silveira Jr to the classic inaugural ribbon cut next Tuesday, February 4th. Da Silveira is a fervent promoter of the legalization of gambling in Brazil and has even publicly stated that Belo Horizonte should have casinos.

State deputy Alencar da Silveira Jr (PDT / MG) has supported the release of gambling since 1998 and has already pointed out that “tourism related to this practice is one of the main ways for generating employment and income in today's society”, according to the official website of the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais. He also highlighted the progress that the activity has brought even in harsh environments, such as the desert in which Las Vegas is located, and its potential for raising funds for the State through tax collection.

The deputy from Minas Gerais even emphasized that “the practice is common throughout society, in a clandestine way, which means that its prohibition is only an obstacle for the public power to enjoy its benefits”, according to the website of the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais.

Talking with the newspaper O Tempo, Alencar explained how regulated gambling sector in Brazil would work. “Machines (slots) exist in Belo Horizonte and must continue to be legalized. In stores there will be supervision, no minors will enter, and everyone who enters to play will have to be identified. There will be a registration to recognize compulsive gamblers. It will remove marginality and can be a healthy environment for everyone, ”he argued.

According to the deputy, "there is a need for the casinos to function, from the moment people take a flight here and go to other countries." In relation to one of the oldest Brazilian games, he says that “there is no way to legalize jogo do bicho without being with the private initiative. Whoever exploits - and I support this - must continue to exploit because otherwise we will continue to have illegal gambling.”

As a representative of the legalization of the gaming sector in the Chamber, Alencar was invited by Clarion Gaming to the inaugural ribbon cut ceremony with Kate Chambers at ICE London 2020. In addition to this, the ICE VOX conference cycle will have the same day on February 4th a round table on Brazil that takes place from 2:50 pm to 3:30 pm with the participation of JD Duarte (CEO of Betcris), Luiz Felipe Maia (founding partner of FYMSA Advogados), Bruno Omori (Brazilian Hotels Association - São Paulo) and Neil Montgomery (Montgomery Sociedade de Advogados).

The next day (February 5th), Clarion set a special seminar for Latin America that will also feature Brazil as one of main topics. Roberto Quattrini (Country Manager Brazil of IGT and representative of the consortium Estrela Instantânea) will speak about the current concession and development process of Loteria Instantanea do Brasil (LOTEX) at 2:15 p.m.

Finally, as part of the same seminar, the “Brazilian Operator Panel: Understanding its Fan Base and Providing Value to Them” will have the opinions of experts such as Alberto Alfieri (Director of Operations, Bet Entertainment Technologies), Thomas Carvalhães ( LV Group Country Manager - Brasil and LatAm, LeoVegas Group), André Gelfi (Founder & CEO, Suaposta) and Alessandro Valente, (CEO, SuperAfiliados).
