Brazilian representative at Ampersand

Bruno Omori speaks at Clarion event on casinos, gaming and new project with bookmakes

Bruno Omori, president of the Institute for Development, Tourism, Culture, Sport and Environment (IDT-CEMA), participated on Wednesday at Ampersand, a Clarion event on payment methods, technology and innovation. During the virtual meeting, the Brazilian representative spoke about the current state of gaming regulation in Brazil and anticipated that sports betting companies will establish a partnership with the tourist trade.

Ampersand is an event that takes place during the ICE show, and that this year had Bruno Omori as one of the representatives of Brazil, together with participants from more than 100 countries. At Ampersand there are general discussions about gambling and throughout the year there are occasional meetings on specific topics.

At the September 30 meeting, which focused on automation, electronic payments, innovation in a COVID-19 environment, Bruno gave a quick overview of the stage of the gaming market in Brazil and on the tourism sector, strongly affected by the pandemic.

“Clarion has been generating interesting discussions with leaders in the gaming market, also gathering tourism and all industries that impact the gaming sector,” he says. Omori commented that at this week's event, the virtual meeting discussed the resumption of gaming with the union of technology in the online and the physical market. “We discussed actions that are being taken from the legal point of view of government regulations to accept, for example, bets using online payment tools and even cryptocurrencies,” he says.

The purpose of the meeting, according to Omori, was “to discuss the use of technological tools to serve the gaming sector and among them electronic payment, modern technologies to control money laundering, hybrid casinos and tourism. We talked about the impacts of the pandemic on the flow of tourists around the world and, of course, in Brazil.”

The director of IDT-CEMA spoke to the participants about the current stage of Brazil in the area of gaming. "I informed about the regulation of the market, which moves forward with new supporters of the activity, both in the Legislative and Executive branches, businessmen and the tourist trade," he said.

Talking to participants from countries such as the Philippines, Portugal, Spain, United States, England, South Africa and India, he commented that the approval of a milestone for the gaming sector is near. “Everyone knows the importance of the inflow of billions of dollars in investments that will heat up the economy. The gaming sector allows this, and this can help us to generate a tremendous boost in tourism,” he commented.

Although he did not give further details, Bruno Omori said that sports betting companies are about to launch a project in partnership with the tourist trade. "It will be a program to gather the biggest sports betting companies and the tourist, hotel and park market."

As the project is still under contract with some sports betting companies and the tourism trade, Omori is committed to revealing the news as soon as the entire process is ready and signed.
