“It seems that Mega-Sena is no longer difficult enough, and Caixa intends to launch a new lottery almost 5 times more difficult,” Doctor Lotto comments on the website.
The launch of this new lottery was scheduled for 2020, but, due to the pandemic, it was postponed to the first half of 2021.
What is known so far is that it has a temporary name and, by now, it is called “Milionária”. Why this name? Because of the difficulty in getting it right: close to 1 chance out of 238 million.
It will be a new modality that should have big accumulated prizes, with 10 prize ranges.
The idea is to do something similar to PowerBall and MegaMillions, which are American lotteries with probabilities of success very close to this new lottery. Powerball has a 292 million chance of winning and MegaMillions a 302 million chance.
The prize for “Milionária” is not known yet, but if the inention is to reach the level of American lotteries, PowerBall is currently accumulated in R$2.2 billion (US$390m) and MegaMillions in R$1.8 billion (US$320m).
The name is still temporary and, according to Caixa, will be chosen by the public.
