On Wednesday (21) afternoon, representatives of casino owners abroad were received in the Senate by some members of the House. Among them, Senator Irajá (PSD-TO) and interlocutors of President Davi Alcolumbre (DEM-AP).
These representatives heard something encouraging: Alcolumbre agreed to vote on Bill 4,495 / 2020 to develop resort casinos in Brazil (not to be confused with bingos, banned in 2007).
A person close to the President of the House told newspaper Radar Econômico that Alcolumbre is working to put the project to a vote shortly after the municipal elections, which second round will be held on November 29.
The expectation is that the project get support, since the eldest son of the President of the Republic, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, has already expressed himself in favor of the legalization of resort casinos.
In fact, he is not just ahead of the articulation so as not to cause noise with the evangelical bench, which remains faithfully contrary to the proposal.
The text will still be reformulated until it is taken to Plenary. Irajá made an agreement with Alcolumbre so that the expected tax revenues, in the order of R$45 billion (US$ 8b), are used to the construction of popular housing.
