Bill 4495/2020

Brazilian Senator Irajá presented his casino-resort project to Minister Paulo Guedes

Senator Irajá met this Thursday (22), with the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, to present to the head of the portfolio three projects of his authorship pending in the Senate that “will bring billions in investments to Brazil”, according to him. 'We talked about Bill 4495 that opens the Brazilian market for the arrival of integrated resorts and has the potential to attract R$44 billion (US$7.85bn) to the country,' revealed Irajá after the meeting.

According to the senator's project, integrated resorts are defined as "tourism complexes with casino operations that combine hotel facilities, convention centers, spaces for fairs, exhibitions, corporate events, congresses and seminars, meetings, ecumenical centers, in addition to different entertainment and convenience options offered to the visitor, such as restaurants, bars, spas, shopping centers, art galleries, museums, theaters, golf courses, theme parks, water parks and other options."

In his text, the physical space occupied by the casino will be limited to 10% of the total area of the integrated resort. Senator Irajá informed Minister Paulo Guedes that the arrival of integrated resorts, as proposed in his bill, has the potential to attract R$44 billion (US$7.85bn), generate 161 thousand jobs and double the number of foreign tourists from 6 million in five years ( today) to 12 million.

In order to win more support within the government for his bill, Irajá recently met with the president of Embratur to deal with Bill 4495/2020, when he presented Gilson Machado with the same data now presented to minister Paulo Guedes.

As the senator already has support from the Bolsonaro family, he seeks to strengthen roots for his project to go to plenary later this year. As published by GMB, the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, would have already given his approval to vote on the Bill. A person close to the President of the House told local media Radar Econômico that Alcolumbre is working to put the project to a vote shortly after the municipal elections, with the second round scheduled for November 29.
