In a milestone in electronic gaming, Cruzeiro eSports joins the CBLOL franchise

Cruzeiro´s fans, that has already proved to be strong supporters of the club during decades, has now one more reason to follow and cheer for the team in the environment of electronic games. The club, which is already a reference in eSports, will compete in the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLoL), what represents a gigantic milestone for the sport. The announcement was made last Friday by Riot Games, which is the manager of the league, with the list of the 10 teams that will be part of the high-level competition.

In 2021 CBLoL finalizes its transition to the franchise system in a closed league, such as the NBA and NFL, making the vacancy guaranteed by Cruzeiro even more valued, since the acceptance of a team includes a project of maintenance of squad, consistent business plans and projections for the growth of brands, with a focus on increasing the productivity of the championship as a whole.

Cruzeiro's entry into CBLoL reverberates worldwide, as the only traditional Brazilian football clubs accepted in the franchise were Cruzeiro and Flamengo.

Pulsing in innovation and with a very fast growth in the last years, the market of electronic games can be highly profitable. And the expectation is that Cruzeiro eSports establishes a new revenue line, which is growing and consistent, already in the first year having an effective profit.

Cruzeiro eSports was created last year, in partnership with E-Flix eSports, to be the representation of the club with total autonomy for the management of the teams, in a model similar to what is done in high performance volleyball, with o Sada Cruzeiro. Today Cruzeiro eSports already has excellent results in championships such as Free Fire and Fifa.

For the project with E-Flix, Cruzeiro has no cost for the maintenance of players, as the team and the revenue is shared. The management of the brand is also done jointly, but the sports administration is entirely in charge of the partner company.

With the arrival of the new Cruzeirense management, new actions were developed to enhance the sport.

Before, for Cruzeiro, eSports was just a brand licensing, but it evolved into a sports modality, allowing us to reach projects like this, from the entry of the Cruzeiro eSports team to LoL. Not only did E-Flix work insistently, but our management collaborated to make this happen. With this modality, Cruzeiro reaches one of the largest audiences in terms of online and offline public, it is a gigantic opportunity that opens up for the Cruzeiro brand to reach all audiences,” commented Rodrigo Moreira, Superintendent of Innovation and Digital of Cruzeiro.

Marcelo Fadul, CEO of E-Flix, explained why Cruzeiro's bid was strong. “The combination of the centennial and relevant brand, such as that of Cruzeiro, adding to E-Flix, which for years has carried eSports in its DNA, was the formula that we believe to be fundamental for approval by Riot and for setting the flag on biggest competition in the world that revolves around the League of Legends. We continue with the good challenge of unifying the traditional football fan with the new generation Cruzeirense fan, and E-Flix will maintain its commitment to deliver high sports performance to Maior de Minas in electronic sports," said Marcelo Fadul, CEO of E- Flix.
