Botafogo announces entry into eSports in partnership with Bird Cia

Another Brazilian football giant entered the electronic sports scene. Botafogo signed a partnership with Bird Cia, an entertainment company, and announced a professional team of Pro Evolution Soccer (PES). The new figures will compete in the PES 11x11 Brazilian Digital Football Championship. The trend is that this is just the first step for Botafogo in eSports, as the plan is to expand to other modalities soon. The official statement says the club is already eyeing Free Fire, Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege.

“I see this as the right time to enter eSports, especially with Bird's proposal, which came according to what we thought and will add a lot to our brand. This market is already a reality and has the potential to go further and further,” commented Ricardo Rotenberg, club's commercial and marketing vice president.

“I also see the initiative as a way to retain fans of all ages, especially the younger ones. Botafogo is happy to establish this new partnership and definitely enter the world of games. It is a novelty that we are very proud to announce, I know that part of our fans already looked forward to it and now Botafogo eSports is a reality,” added Rotenberg.

“Bird has seen the growth of this universe and noticed an opportunity that meets our expertise. We are specialized in large projects and for us to work with Botafogo guarantees seriousness to evolve the way we want. We are starting with PES, but we already have projects underway for other modalities, and we should announce these initiatives soon,” said Vanessa Oliveira, founder of Bird.

“Our core eSports project involves purpose and passion. We create verticals of attention that directly care for the well-being and future of athletes and the entire ecosystem that encompasses brands and companies that want to interact with this audience that is increasingly growing and engaging,” she added.

Several other Brazilian football clubs are present in eSports. Flamengo and Cruzeiro, for example, have athletes in the Brazilian Championship of League of Legends, which is the main electronic sport competition in the country, and in Series A of the LBFF (Brazilian Free Fire League). Pro Evolution Soccer has been one of the main entry points for teams on the scene.
