Nevada governor names new chairman of the Gaming Control Board

Nevada governor Steve Sisolak named J. Brin Gibson to replace departed board Chairwoman Sands Douglass Morgan, who stepped down to join the board of Fidelity National Financial, effective next November 18. “Brin is exactly the type of committed public servant needed in this important role during this critical time,” Sisolak said in a statement.

Las Vegas lawyer J. Brin Gibson, who previously provided legal advice to Nevada gaming regulators as an assistant attorney general, has been named chairman of the Gaming Control Board.

“Brin is exactly the type of committed public servant needed in this important role during this critical time,” Sisolak said in a statement.

“His extensive background and expertise in highly regulated industries makes him a perfect fit for this position,” Sisolak added.

During his time at the Attorney General’s Office, Gibson was chief legal counsel to the Gaming Control Board, the Nevada Gaming Commission and the Nevada Gaming Policy Committee.

Gibson, who is with law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, also served a year as Sisolak’s general counsel, leaving the post in January.

In a statement, Gibson said he would “work tirelessly to serve with the same sense of honor and dignity for the position those before me have shown.”

Gibson earned his bachelor’s, master’s and law degrees from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
