Online version of BgC 2020 to update the gaming market in Brazil

On December 8 and 9, from 10 am to 1 pm (Brasília time), will take place the BgC Digital Experience, a 100% online version of the Brazilian Gaming Congress (BgC), the meeting that has been discussing since 2013 the legalization and regulation of the sector in Brazil. Organized by Clarion Events Brasil and with GMB as the official media, the event will feature an agile and objective program and a networking tool that will enable participants to hold business meetings and exchange ideas and experiences.

“We have been in contact with suppliers, operators and other professionals who intend to operate in this market and there is a demand for updates on what is happening in terms of regulation. Clarion Gaming has always been the spokesperson for these trends, and now it will be no different,” highlights the general director of Clarion in Brazil, Sergio Jardim.

Opening the program, Waldir Eustáquio Marques Junior, Assistant Secretary for Prizes and Draws of the Ministry of Economy, will participate in a panel together with the gaming specialist and President of the Panamerican Confederation of Sports Poker (CPPD), Igor “Federal” Trafane, where it will be approached the current status of the Sports Betting Regulation - which was approved in late 2018.

“Another important issue that we need to talk to the market about is the prospects for State Lotteries after the STF decision that imposed the end of the Union monopoly for the operation of lotteries”, said Waldir, who will also participate in a specific panel on the topic. "We have been consulted by several states on how things will be after the change, and this event will be an opportunity to guide the market in general," he added.

The panel will be opened by lawyer Roberto Carvalho Brasil Fernandes, who filed the ADPF 493 with the STF. In his participation, Brasil Fernandes will comment on the decision which, although not a “carte blanche”, guarantees states autonomy for the operation of the lottery activity.

On the second day, the event's schedule will discuss the proposals that are on the agenda in the Federal Senate for the return of casino operations in Brazil. One of the supporters of the topic that has already confirmed participation in the event is Senator Angelo Coronel (PSD / BA), who defends the legalization of casinos as a new source of revenue for the federal government, which can be used to finance social programs such as Renda Cidadã.

Other topics that are on the event's agenda are the need to adapt the business model to the Brazilian market, the high standards of regulation and control of the gaming sector that guarantee efficient tools against money laundering and in favor of responsible gambling.

The event will also discuss the “boom” of new games in the sports betting market - such as eSports, Virtual Gaming and other sports in addition to football that gained prominence with the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel's idea is to discuss what has changed in the players' behavior and how operators can deal with and prepare from now on.

Registration to participate in the event is open on  www.braziliangamingcongress.com.br .
