USA election could become event with highest betting amount of money in history

The United States election, which took place yesterday still has no definition, could become the event that will raise the most money in betting in history. Matthew Shaddick, the head of the political betting section of the Ladbrokes Coral group, told The Guardian newspaper that the entire industry is expected to process the equivalent of US$1.3 billion. Bets will be accepted until the winner's announcement and, since last night, Trump has become a favorite to beat Biden.

According to the English newspaper Daily Mail, a man placed a US$5 million bet on Trump. The media reported that the gambler works in the financial market and talked to people on the Trump committee. The bet was placed on Curaçao, says the text.

Another person bet US$1.3 million on Biden, according to the Betfair Exchange platform. Bets will be accepted until the moment the winner is announced. The expectation on one of the platforms is that the total amount will reach almost US$ 522 million, twice the value of 2016.

Biden was a favorite at bookmakers throughout the process. But since the voting ended and the results began to be known, President Donald Trump became the favorite on the United States websites to win the elections.

At 11:30 pm on Tuesday (11) in Brasília time, the Republican took over from Democrat Joe Biden in the quotes of American companies specializing in gambling. For people betting money on the dispute for the United States government, Donald Trump's chances of reelection increased on Tuesday, according to the British website Betfair Exchange.

It is worth remembering that quotes are made according to mathematical projections and the game played by bettors, without any scientific criteria.

In Las Vegas, at 11:40 pm, Trump was quoted at 1.44 for every dollar wagered. Biden started to be considered a possible loser of the election with a price of 2.55 for every dollar played.

In Brazil, at 0:15, the price was 1.25 for Trump's victory and 3.75 for one for Biden. At 1:30 am, the site reduced Trump's favoritism. It went to 1.50 for the win. And Biden dropped to 2.50.
