GMB - Sérgio, what assessment do you make of BgC Digital Experience 2020?
Sergio Jardim - The event was very good, and we managed to bring in important people and the discussions were fruitful. It was what it could be in the current situation. We would like to have a face-to-face event, but the digital model has met our objectives and the expectations of the gaming industry.
What were the most prominent themes at this year's edition?
The first topic to highlight was the state lotteries and the consequences of the STF decision, which had a lot of discussion and important participation. The second topic that drew attention was the casinos approach, with opinions from people very close to the theme and who are active. And the third point to highlight was the presence of Waldir Marques Jr., who updated us on what has been happening at the Ministry of Economy and, in particular, in the area where he works, which is ahead of the regulations, with some ideas for deadlines for the next year.
Unlike previous years, this year's BgC had a reduced panel schedule. Did this affect the quality of the content?
Indeed, we had - because it is a digital event that cannot have as long a time as in a face-to-face congress - to reduce the number of panels and lectures. But from the point of view of quality, I think we managed to bring the most important topics with the people who are standing out the most. I would say that we had no loss of quality, but an event that had a smaller number of topics discussed.
Is there already an approximate balance of the number of subscribers?
We don't have the final numbers yet, but on the first day we had more than 350 subscribers, a number that was repeated on the second day.
What were the main conclusions drawn from BgC 2020?
It is important that we periodically hold meetings with the industry, operators and authorities, including the Legislative, so that we can discuss the main themes of the congress. So, periodicity is extremely important and maintaining contacts. I would say that if that face-to-face networking is not possible, with the professionals meeting and going out to dinner or having lunch together to discuss their projects, at least we created the event to stimulate and allow people to talk to each other through the platform.
How will the Brazilian gambling market benefit from these conclusions?
The conclusion we draw about the opportunity of the event is that everything we want, that is, the regulation of the various modalities or verticals of the sector, depends a lot on the joint performance of the industry and operators, showing the regulator that the main characteristics of the business were present and how they evolve. It is also very important to bring examples from other countries, in addition to showing the Legislature, through senators and deputies, the importance of addressing these issues, as the main doubts and benefits are already clear. So, it is a matter of having the opportunity to speak and do, leaving in mind the arguments in favor of the sector.
